Workplace Insights: The Link between Employee Well-being in Singapore and Job Performance

Caring for your employees’ health and well-being can have a profound impact on our business outcomes. Employees with high vitality and well-being are significantly more engaged and productive at work, according to our latest International Health Study 2024 focusing on Workplace Insights.

Employees that feel their best tend to perform better too. Other key findings from the study include:

  • Workers with high vitality are more likely to be satisfied with their job (82%) and enthusiastic about their roles (89%) compared to those with low vitality, where these figures drop drastically to 15% and 22%, respectively.
  • High-vitality workers are less likely to search for a new job compared to their low-vitality counterparts.
  • Flexible or hybrid work arrangements are critical in boosting organisational well-being. Employees in hybrid roles report greater enthusiasm for their jobs and perceive their workplaces as more supportive of personal and family commitments.
  • While individuals who are working report higher average vitality levels than non-working individuals, they also experience noticeably greater stress. This stress comes from job-related pressures, such as the fear of layoffs and an “always-on” work culture.

Investing in employee health can be key to a company’s success. This is especially important for businesses in Singapore that are grappling with significant talent shortages and intense global competition for skilled talent.
